The process of Onion dehydration is a scientific process that aims at eliminating the danger of harmful microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi, which allows the dehydrated onions to become safer to use while preserving its potency and flavor. our process starts with acquiring ripe healthy onion crop, our purchasing department follows a strict quality process that ensures that every onion is ripe, safe, and free of harmful chemical dusting or pesticides. After acquiring the crop, the crop is then transported safely to our factory in a timely manner.
Washing
The onions are then brushed and washed thoroughly with clean water to clear them of any debris or dirt, this process is repeated twice to ensure complete cleanliness.
Sorting
Before moving the onions to the dehydration process, they are sorted by size and checked for damage by our workers; all damaged onions are eliminated from the dehydration process.
Secondary sorting
The onions will then go through a metal detector to filter out any harmful metallic debris, this process is repeated 4 times; after every step of the production process.
Cutting
The onion cutting process is done automatically using Urschel cutting machines, and then sliced onions are then fed to a german-made “Hans Binder” machine (considered one of the world’s leading makers of dehydration machinery), the onions are then dehydrated at the required temperature. A five-belt conveyor then passes the onions through temperature-controlled chambers and airflow chambers to eliminate the optimum amount of moisture.
Tertiary sorting
The dehydrated onions are then run through two large X-ray machines that sort the product automatically according to its general size, a camera built into the machine is able to categorize the product according to its color; this allows for consistency and quality in aroma and taste, this is one of our main Total Quality Management processes.
Laboratory analysis
After the dehydrated onion product is sorted, a sample from each product category goes through our on-site laboratory to ensure that the sample is safe and consistent with international standards.
Storage
After exiting the conveyor, the final dehydrated onion products are directly stored in our facilities where an intricate “dried onion-Chiller” is placed to preserve the level of dryness required to keep the dried onion fresh; this is achieved by adjusting the Chiller to keep the moisture at a certain level, preventing any additional moisture from being absorbed by the dehydrated onions within the climatized storage facility
